The provincial government of Maguindanao del Norte, through the Gender and Development (GAD) office, set the “Gender and Development Summit” to lever a strong and inclusive development in the province on October 29, at Cotabato city.
The summit advocates to achieve gender equality as a fundamental value that should be reflected in development choices and contends that women are active agents of development, not just passive recipients of development.
Provincial Administrator Tomanda D. Antok, PhD, highlighted the role of women and their importance in the Islamic faith.
He underscored that they mold society as they are the backbone of nation-building.
He also assured that under the governorship of Abdulraof “Gob Sam” Macacua, the provincial government will continue to provide equitable delivery of services and programs to women of all ages and backgrounds.
During the summit, gender equality advocates, development professionals, and cooperative leaders were gathered together to share their strategic insights that will provide the participants with knowledge and skills needed to advance inclusivity.
In attendance were representative for MP Diamila Disimban-Ramos, ScL Satria Candao, UnYPhil Women representative Noraida Abo, BWC Chief Administrator Arshied Alfonso, CPA, GAD Focal of office of MP Jamel Macacua Atty. Ronielle Mae Cheong, GAD Specialist III Bai Febraida Karon, municipal GAD focals, and provincial department heads.
